NYC Day 1

I've kinda had some rough times recently, so my wonderful friend Debbie suggested a small get-a-way. We decided that New York City would be a great place to meet up. I love that place and haven't had the opportunity to go there since my internship in 2002! Debbie, being the jet setter that she is, goes there a handful of time per year. She's got lots of friends there, and scored us a cat sitting job=$25 accommodations! Here we are with the kitties. I never knew what their names were...

Both our flights got in early, so we could have the whole day to play! We got settled in the apartment, got our metro cards and headed out. First we grabbed a sandwich at the Bryant park restaurant (we payed the server in 2 dollar bills, Debbie won them at the Utah County fair).

I must say that Debbie was the perfect travel buddy as we always shared a meal to save a buck (we both have the same taste in food) and we are both into the same things.

After lunch we headed east. First we made a quick stop at Grand Central Station.

Then we headed to Rachel Ray's studio. We had tickets to be a part of the audience for her talk show. Here we are waiting outside the studio followed by us inside the "waiting" room (and we sure did wait!). The whole experience took about 6 hours! The kept us fed with brownies and chocolate though :) That blue room was SO cold, even colder that church!

The show was alright. Being in the audience felt more like being a prop. She never engage us, just the camera. We were also guided when to cheer and clap and laugh. We will definitely be seen on tv though. Look on her website and watch for the date that will air the show with Jerry Springer as the guest. We were on the second row on the end near the middle of her rotating stage.

We had a great first day, but needless to say we were exhausted and hit the hay pretty early, as we planed an exceptionally early morning for day 2...

Wow! That looks like so much fun. I haven't been there since high school - I think it was 2002 also. So much fun. NY is such a fun place to visit...and it sounds like you scored with accomodations! :)

awesome! you'll have to remind us when to watch you on Springer... I mean Rachel. Sad that she didn't hang with the audience more!
